DEEPER is a PICO-8 game made in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 48! Inspired by Downwell, you use your rocket boots to propel you as you go "DEEPER AND DEEPER". This was also my first PICO-8 game to use the libraries I've built up. Including rect overlap, particle systems, screen effects, and vector calculations.
Controls:
Cursor Keys: Move
Z/X: Shoot and handle menus

Added particles around pickups,
Made pickups more common,
Slowed game down a little to make it easier,
Added heart / life pickups,
Maybe fixed bug with invincibility timer,
Increased invincibility time,
Added particles when taking damage,
Added cool down to game over screen,

too easy after reaching 25k score 25 lives and 137 bullets I decided to give up

I liked the game. The ammunition is a bit hard to tell apart from the rocks while going fast. You should link back to the Ludum dare page so we can rate it there.

Super difficult but also super juicy ! I like the twist you put on Downwell. I wish there was a way to slow down once you're out of ammo, because it's really hard to react in time when falling !
Also I found this game through itch, and there's no link to your ldjam submission, so I can't rate it :( I'd suggest adding it to your itch page so people can rate it from here, because it's easier to find games on specific platforms through itch.

In the itch dashboard for this game you can add the link it's like a question on the thing that says "is this part of a ludum dare?" and it will add a really helpful masthead to the top of your itch game's page (example: https://cheesepencil.itch.io/do-not-insert-inside-the-ear-canal) see the bar across the top?
that way we don't have to dig through the comments to find the LD page with your game!
